Fringe Comedy Gala is a standout example of outstanding stand up which packages common themes in irreverent witticism, with seemingly effortless skill.

Kyle Legacy opens and emcees with lighthearted audience banter, warming up the crowd for the five featured comics, whose combined comedy has attendees in stitches. Sean-from-Sydney comments on exploitation within reality shows, ice-cold code cracking, and the epitome of lazy eating. Stella speaks of being Brit, laughing at store names, and working as a comedian in the midst of a pandemic. Ruven’s hilarious commentary includes mushrooms, relationship advice, and people falling for stereotypes. His fantastic storytelling walks the audience through his inner thought processes with maximum comedic impact. Another comic examines both sides of the stereotyping coin, speaking of dodgy alley cigarette encounters and judgements on mental health, while George-from-Greece deals in great Perth hecklers, belated comebacks, and holiday humour with bonus life hacks.

Each of these acts has culture at its core, stereotypes in the periphery, and hilarity at heart. The comics themselves are individually funny, and collectively hilarious. The Laugh Mob crew know how to create a good line-up and elicit raucous laughter from an appreciative audience.

Fringe Comedy Gala is a must-see experience for staunch fans of stand up.
