Thomas Stewart, otherwise known at Melon the Human, is a talented and creative performer with circus experiences from around the world. He is incredibly skilful in object manipulation and sure proves so during his solo show, Assume People Like You: a cute one-man circus show about loneliness and friendship, which leaves you humbled and amused.

Thomas begins the show with his awkward dancing and a cringey introduction. Think Mr Bean meets Sheldon meets R2-D2. A slow start that eventuates into an impressive showcase of different circus parlour tricks.

Contact juggling, circus rings and a giant spinning cube are just a few of the circus props that Thomas uses to amaze the audience time and time again. Not for the fainthearted, the broom performance was this reviewer’s favourite yet also the most frightening for fear of being javelined ten minutes into the show!

His robotic interludes pull the show together and audience participation was the most unique I’ve seen at Fringe. Very wholesome and very very sweet. A lovely way to start your Fringe Binge with an entertaining hour of constantly questioning what the heck will happen next.

P.S. Remember to bring some change with you. You’ll be gutted if you don’t!
