A brilliant and camp display of circus and cabaret!

The line of the audience stretched down the pathway, almost blocking others from coming through.

The audience waited in excitement and awe as they began moving towards the tent, sitting in their seats and excitedly discussing what they were about to witness!

The lights came up and the performers Andrew Silverwood (MC/Host), Jason Ahipene (Aerial Straps), Leighton Beanland (Diablo), Shae Holden (Duo Rope), James Mons (Clown/Comedy Magic + Counterweighter), Andy Phillips (Guitar/Vocals), Miriam Valls (Dance Trapeze), Lewis Yost (Hand balancing), and Sarah Green (Duo Rope/Spanish Web/Aerial Skills) appear on stage for the introductory/opening number.

And from that moment, the audience was hooked.

The Host/MC, Andrew Silverwood, kept the momentum going throughout the performance and kept the audience on the edge of their seat with each new act that walked out onto the stage.

Throughout the production, the audience members – and myself – did not know who to look at as all the performers captured your attention and brought you into the story they were trying to convey as they moved about the stage – and in some cases, the air itself.

The performers sheer strength, intensity, comedic style, and facial expressions caused you to want more and the energy around the room was just everyone having an amazing time.

Each performer wow’d the audience and deserved the amount of applause and laughter that came from the audience which each performance.

The camp nature of the performances also showed that the performers enjoyed their craft and even if there was an issue with nerves, the performers played into it. And I personally believe that if someone can play off something like that and keep going - and turn it into their energy onstage - then they are an amazing performer and are destined for incredible things.

And each of the performers you will see on stage for 80s Mixtape Cabaret are the performers you want to support and watch in the present and future – thought, hopefully next time will be in a more suitable and supported performance space!

Also wanted to praise and give a special mention to the performance inspired by a timeless and brilliant 80s film. Brillaint!

Final words: An incredible and camp production, and I cannot wait to see what they have instore next fringe!
