Ever wondered what Hitler’s car horn might have sounded like, or why you should reconsider getting a vasectomy? Those are the kind of questions that history podcast Damian Smith, comedian, author and host of podcast History Go Time answers during this wide-ranging comedy show.

With topics ranging from winning Covid lockdowns, to Clive Palmer, to how to know you are at a Nazi rally, nothing is off limits for Damian. This show swings wildly from laugh-out-loud funny, to philosophical, and of course, little nuggets of history thrown in for good measure.

The show isn’t exactly what it says on the box, because a little bit disappointingly, we don’t find out who history’s 10 worst Hitlers are, Damian can be forgiven because his viewpoint on everything is just so spot-on. At any point in time during the show, all of the audience was either in fits of giggles or nodding sagely at the wise point he just made.

Moving through some controversial subjects including religion, conspiracy theories, and of course, Nazis can often make for some awkward moments during a comedy show. But as Damien says, you can’t trust a comedian who doesn’t touch on the dark stuff.

Damian ran through his material like a pro though there were a couple of pacing issues towards the end, mainly because of a couple unexpected applause breaks which threw off his timing, but that just added to the haphazard and fun feel of the show. There were a few good-natured heckles from the gentleman beside me (everyone thinks they are a comedian in a dark room), but Damien took them all in his stride and even received an apology during the show. Best case scenario really!

This is a great show for any fans of the History Go Time podcast, people with end-of-the-word kinks, or just fans of smart, on-the-ball comedy.
