What is the perfect set time for a fringe comedy performance? Sometimes a 5 minute set leaves you wanting more. For some patrons an hour long show can be too much of the same flavour. My personal favourite is a clean fifteen minute set. Not too short, doesn’t drag. It’s the Goldilocks’s porridge of stand up comedy.

At 2 Englishman and an Aussie there’s even more that’s ‘just right.’ John Pinnò (English), Squirly (Aussie) and newcomer Ronnie Neville (a welcome last minute Irish substitute) offer a variety of comedy stylings.

John Pinnò oscillates between family friendly observations before devastating with adults only punchlines.

Squirly may not have the voice of a contemporary philosopher, but his musings on the millennial assassination of the Australian character are both piercing and light-hearted.

Ronnie Neville is an interesting new presence and gets better every show. His stories are folksy, genuine and relatable. Each tale paints a picture of a scenario that is fun to imagine and that are guaranteed to make you laugh.

I have seen all these comics perform at different shows this year, but really felt they killed given a perfect amount of time to be on stage. Not too long, not too short. They get comfortable with the audience and their material hits the right notes. Don’t miss this show or you’ll be mad as the three bears!
