The show opens with the hypnotic enchantment of a music box sound, that draws the audience into the childlike realm of our two main players. The two play at hand puppetry, cast onto a cyclorama before masterfully created thunder and lightning signals a dramatic abduction.

The fearful are captured and the fascinated are captivated in the coming tale. This remarkably well directed story is filled with mythical creatures and capable actors who can convey emotion skilfully through their shadows.

Our young protagonist was especially talented in this realm as she took us on a journey in search of her missing friend. Atmosphere was created cleverly by the backstage crew, sound and lighting artists and during a brief moment of technical difficulty, confident bar staff took the time to improvise and entertain.

The show went on as it always does and it kept us all on the edge of our seats thrilled by the dark fairytale playing out before our eyes. If you too need to snatch your power back from monsters, run don’t walk to secure tickets to Dyad’s last show of this Fringe season.
