GINAVA's MESSY FRIENDS is a performance event for everyone who loves all things drag and burlesque.

With a variety of incredibly talented Perth performances such as Ginava, Flynn V, Liberty Genre, Bebe Babow, Mary Lamb O’God, Danisa Snake, and Bobby Knox, – who all received support from the impeccable stage kitten Adam Zapple – GINAVA’s Messy Friends left the audience screaming and begging for an encore!

Ginava introduced the audience to their messy friends by using a projecting of a previously recorded interview of each individual performer discussing topics about performing and what they want to achieve in the future. As a person who loves integrating theatre and film together, seeing this done at a drag performance left me personally in awe. The cuts between each section of Ginava’s messy friends led the audience along the path to who would be appearing on the stage for a solo performance next - and allowed the audience to be introduced to the performers who performed with Ginava during the amazing group numbers.

From utilising burlesque and cabaret in a blindfolded performance to feeling like a snake charmer, contortionist and a fire starter, each individual performance shocked and left the audience anticipating what or who would appear on stage next. The energy of each individual performance was brought up and never faltered as the night progressed.

Another important topic to mention would be the group choreography. Each time the group performances occurred, the audience was on the edge of their seat and watching as the groups moved in perfect synchronicity and you could easily tell that each performer was having the time of their life as they performed on stage.

With a mix of acts that includes burlesque, drag, and two acts that could be called contortion, Ginava’s Messy Friends left the audience screaming for more, and even received a couple of standing ovations! Five starts out of five, would see again if I could and can’t wait to see what else Ginava brings to the stage next year!
