It’s one small step for dance and one confetti-cannon explosion for humankind. Welcome to Family Rave Day, where all species and all ages unite for the love of dance.

The bubble machine outside the venue builds excitement and anticipation as we all wait to be transported to another world courtesy of 2 Phat Dads and their high-energy, UV-paint adorned team. Once shuffled into the spiegeltent, it doesn’t take long to get the party started. The MC transports us to another stratosphere and launches us into the party with a countdown from 10 to 1. From here we have 60 minutes of high-octane entertainment for kids big and small with a truly multi-sensory experience.

The two on-stage dancers kept the crowd engaged throughout with regular costume changes, club-inspired accessories that the most devoted of ravers would have been proud of and a lightshow that will keep you entertained for the entirety of the set. If you also want to be part of the show, there are plenty of seriously affordable opportunities to buy your very own light sabre for you to recreate the rave at home, not to mention that if you dance hard enough, you may well be rewarded for your efforts.

Most importantly, if you’re a phat dad serious about their tunes, do not fear, this is a family rave day, and the adults are very much catered for. While yes, there’s the odd party-Vengaboys classic thrown in, the DJ seriously knows what he’s doing on those Pioneer CDJs, artfully mixing classic rave tunes and high-energy dance, including favourites such as Chamisra’s Let Me Show You, Ride on Time by Black Box and remaining loyal to the theme, no intergalactic rave day would be complete without Prodigy’s Out of Space as we were catapulted through to the finale.

This all-inclusive party truly has something for everyone and is guaranteed to be the best afternoon you have with your kids all Fringe season. Banging tunes, dazzling dancers and an MC with simply unparalleled energy, trust me, you’re all in great hands aboard this spaceship. There are only six shows of Family Rave Day all season, so get your groove on and see this award-winning Fringe favourite before it goes into orbit.
