A Bit Too Edinburgh Fringe is a show that most certainly lives up to its name.
This show is a conglomeration of different talents that bares some semblance of a variety show hosted by none other than the tardy, Tomas Ford—one week and 25 minutes to be exact. Tomás' has all the impressive talents you'd expect of a Fringe performer that boasts how overbearing his personality is, such as singing; playing the ukulele; and forgetting almost everything about his fellow performers. Everything was chaotic in every sense of the word, yet palate cleansing for a Fringe season held together by the tired-eyed audiences of Perth during a COVID outbreak.
The lineup of straight, male comedians was particularly noteworthy and worked well to break up the queerness of Tomás' hosting. Each of the sets were well-structured and made unique observations about Perth that were particularly genius.
The burlesque number, while beautifully costumed, was a little dull in the overhead lighting of a dimly lit pub. The crowd went tepid for this number, a shame, considering how impressive this performance could have been with a little more workshopping and polish. Alas, if you're competing with the hairy tata's of Tomás Ford in a spandex leotard, I could understand why the audience were not whooping and hollering during this performance.
I'd recommend this one for the FRINGE WORLD veterans who enjoy a bit of anarchy and charisma in their Fringe shows. The sheer confusion of the crowd was enough to entertain me, however I do believe there is something special about this show that is worth your time and money.
