In a city where virtually everyone has either lived the FIFO life or knows someone who has, could there be anything more quintessentially Perth than a stand-up comedy show about the FIFO experience?

With 12 years on the tools under his belt, FRINGE WORLD 2021 award winner Grant Mushet is well-qualified to reveal the boisterous truth about working away in his brand-new show, Highly Visible.

The Scottish lad tells it like it is about his experiences as a young apprentice working towards his dream – a 28-day swing on a rig in Western Australia.

Fasten your safety harness and grab your hard hat because Grant’s journey from his first workshop in a land far away to his destiny in this searing hot state is fraught with hazards that will make your site risk manager weep.

Colourful characters, awkward incidents and explosive escapades abound as he learns exactly how hard work can be and how to get ahead of the game.

It’s a tough world out there for FIFO workers and Grant has navigated the rough seas to not only winch his way to the wrench-wielding career he always wanted but also mine that experience for a metric tonne of comedy gold.

By his own admission, Grant still has some screws to tighten and valves to adjust on this new material, but nevertheless, his swift delivery and engaging storytelling held the audience captive from the moment he stepped up to the mic.

He’s certainly got a truckload of hilarious tales that’ll keep you laughing all the way back to your donga.

Catch Grant Mushet performing Highly Visible at The Craft on weekends this FRINGE WORLD month. Grant also reprises his award-winning show, Good Dick Energy, throughout the festival, so why not make a night of it by seeing the two shows back-to-back.
