Some international flavour during a time of no travel is just what we need this Fringe season. Border Security has four fun comedians telling a series of jokes relating to their own race and cultural experiences. The laughs are relatively consistent with topics that vary broadly.

Chris Pucilio opened the show with jokes about anal sex, blow jobs and the threats in South Africa. While some jokes were funny, he made too many references to singular laughs in the audience when his jokes fell flat. He also could have been more energetic. Overall, he has potential but needs to work on his delivery.

Gill the Scottish Terrier was the strongest performer of the night. She had a fantastic vibrancy the moment she stepped up to the microphone. She began by interacting with the audience, which created a nice tone for her set. Her jokes varied from Scottish vs Irish accents to cougars. She also incorporated a lot of popular culture references that the crowd seemed to enjoy. Overall, she was natural, comfortable and had a great flow. I would have enjoyed watching more of her.

Shah Kapur is from Mumbai and made many stereotypical jokes about Telstra, 7/11 and cricket, which the audience enjoyed. He probably engaged the most with the audience by asking specific questions and having a couple of people be directly relevant to his performance. While his jokes were not completely original, they were still enjoyable.

Daniel Nielsen had the strongest structure to his performance by tying in an early theme at the end of the show. His jokes varied from his Danish background to orgasms to bogans. He engaged with the audience and even dealt well with some heckling. He has great delivery but could refine some of the material. His enthusiasm and physical presence on stage is wonderful.

All the comedians were good at being inclusive of the audience that were spread around the room.

Enjoy a night of variety with Boarder Security.
