Uncut Gem is an unconventional, uncensored comedy show that is not for the faint of heart. David Morgan-Brown, along with guests Robbie Brooks and Gareth Knight have put together a show that is a no holds barred look behind the curtain of their lives.
Opening with Robbie Brooks, a comedian from Tampa, Florida, the night got off to a good start. With tales of his racist, homophobic grandma (lets be real who doesn’t have one of those family members) and one-liners about his wife and their life together, the crowd was warmed up and ready to go.
Gareth Knight, with his own unique brand of awkward humour, continued the mood of the night with the small crowd giggling away at some of his more relatable topics and groaning at some of his more controversial lines.
Headliner David Morgan-Brown is the highlight of the show though, with his offensive rants on a wide range of topics proving that literally nothing is off limits. When David says he doesn’t give a f**k he really means it, entertaining a small Thursday night crowd in an intimate venue with spot on impressions of the colourful people of Perth, stories of dating, sex, the holocaust, family and mental health.
Overall, the show had some misses, and awkward laughter, but all three comedians took those moments into their stride and continued to pepper us with one-liners like the true professionals they are! If you’re a fan of off-colour humour this is the show for you!
