If you haven’t been to a Perth Cabaret Collective show yet, you absolutely need to! Perth Cabaret Collective have quite a reputation to live up to, and they absolutely exceed it. Well known as Perth’s premier Jazz band, their performances are electrifying and enthralling from start to finish. Filled to the brim with local talent it’s no wonder they are a FRINGE WORLD Festival Favourite!
Stepping back in time at The Ellington Jazz club, the Perth Cabaret Collective and their vivacious vocal guests Lucy Iffla and Mia Matthiessen brought to life every musical number, charming the audience in between ditty’s with their effervescent personalities. Featuring songs from Nina Simone, Barbara Streisand and an extra special rendition of Sisters from the movie White Christmas Lucy and Mia were able to showcase their sultry, spellbinding voices. With such incredible tunes and talent, the band had the whole crowd tapping their feet and applauding until our hands hurt.
Led by the ever-charismatic Musical Director, Jess Herbert, the nine-piece Collective really has something for everyone, from sassy saxes, broody bass, tinkling ivories and tantalising trumpets. The magic of a Perth Cabaret Collective show at a venue as intimate as The Ellington is almost impossible to put into words, the audience greedily lapping up every note of their captivating performance and demanding one last song with a series of chants, and a cacophony of cheers and applause.
The only downside to this performance is that the season for this show has sadly finished, however they have another show during FRINGE WORLD Festival – Spectacular, Spectacular! Running from February 7 to 13, this show is one you cannot afford to miss!
