What a fantastic start for FRINGE WORLD, with some reminiscence of the film Seven. It is in the register of grace and dance that the stigma and dissimulation of the seven deadly sins takes shape. Pride, greed, sloth, lust, envy, gluttony and wrath, just in case you would omit any of them.

After a brief introduction where the performers were still in their regular being, each of the seven dancers in solo and in group, never identical, never fixed, always unstable, precarious, ephemeral, in transformation, their gestures and their emotions make us go from one sin to another, through corporal sensations and intellectual ramifications.

Strong message, great music, visceral interpretation and fabulous dancers who gave all they have. You could really feel them there, they move, graze, jump, fall, intertwine, separate, fight, there is no hesitation to what is depicted.

The lighting, the minimalism and the proximity of the Subiaco Arts Center stage bring a certain intimacy with the dancers as if they were giving us a secret. I like to hear the sound of footsteps, slides and other pirouettes. Even the minor timing inconsistencies made it more authentic.

Always wondering what’s coming next, it is easy to follow, the audience was engaged from start to finish and fully delighted about the performance.

At the end, each of the dancers returns to their everyday appearance as if nothing had happened, they even take a seat on the front row before returning on stage to receive warm and enthusiastic applause.

I loved it, don’t miss it.
