I was looking forward to seeing a magic show and wondering if I’d be able to see how any of the tricks worked, after all magic is all about illusion, misdirection and sleight of hand isn’t it?

From the young to the old and all in between this sold out show delighted, mesmerised and captivated.

From classic disappearing watches and card tricks to baffling mind reading, the audience was engaged and entertained from the moment Peter Paxx stepped onto the stage at the Perth Town Hall.

While we didn’t see anyone cut in half, this was first and foremost a magic show and there was plenty of illusion and misdirection on show.

Calling on members of the audience to participate, Paxx created a closer relationship with the audience and added authenticity to his acts.

Smooth and confident with one or two cards up his sleeve, but no rabbits in a hat, Paxx is a master magician.

Paxx played a moving interview with his parents, where they recounted their experiences as Vietnamese refugees, to whom he attributes his belief that anything is possible if you dare to dream. He dreamed about magic.

There was magic in the air last night and Perth born and raised magician extraordinaire Peter Paxx, made it happen.

A confident and polished performance that was well paced, engaging and close to perfection.

There’s a lot of shows at Fringe but there’s only one Peter Paxx, magic it was.
