The Wiki-Fringe Guide to planning your Fringe

Published: Thu, Nov 3 2022

Method 1 – Print off all pages of the FRINGE WORLD website

Once you have the hardcopy, you can manually browse all of the events and circle the ones you’re interested in attending. You can either attempt to staple the countless pages into a booklet or let them scatter around you whilst you sit on the floor.

Do not be alarmed when you lose the paper sheets you needed – just print it out again!

Method 2 – Track your plans through Facebook events

Navigate your way through all of the hundreds of separate events and times on Facebook and press ‘Going’ to the shows you wish to see. Extra points if you use a small phone screen.

You can then receive infinite notifications from all events and lose track of when they are happening.

Method 3 – The ‘Free Spirit’ approach

Just rocking up on the day to see what’s available? How bold! This is a great way to take a punt on something you might have other wised overlooked.

Some of your favourite shows might sell out, or you might miss the starting time of an act, but this is all part of the method. Go with the flow.

Method 4 – Old school calendar

When you see an event you like (either on our socials or our website), jot down the details in your hardcopy calendar or planner. Be sure to catch the date, time and venue and squeeze in multiple shows in those tiny little date boxes!

Note: this approach requires exceptional organisation skills. Make sure to keep a print-out of your e-tickets somewhere you’ll remember like maybe in the void that is your purse or on the ever-trusty fridge.

Method 5 – Let that one person in the group who decides everything decide

Can’t be bothered will all of this hassle? Simply follow your friends around! That way, you don’t need to make any decisions or follow any of the difficult suggestions above.

Plus, they’re so good at organising why would anyone else even try!

Method 6 – Play show roulette with all the contacts in your phone

Here’s a method that guarantees a night of surprises. Scroll through your phone and pick a random number, call them up and ask them to suggest a show!

Will it be your crazy ex out to sabotage your night out? Maybe your great Aunt who has rad taste in Jazz? And who knows, your boss could be really into burlesque...

It may not be the best night out, but it’ll be a hell of a story.

Method 7 – FRINGE WORLD App
