Bursting with sex appeal, flamboyance and comedy, Ladyboys of Bangkok delivers a high-octane journey around the world, blending spectacular performances with an irresistible mix of musical styles.
We begin with a visually decadent moment of traditional Thai dress. It genuinely feels as though we’re witnessing a ceremonial dance reserved for royalty.
This elegance quickly gives way to comedy with a hilarious Carmen Miranda–inspired routine, complete with a towering fruit hat and Latin flair. The ‘Big Mama’ of the group steals the spotlight, pulling two audience members onstage and by the end, the maracas weren’t the only things getting a shake.
We jump from Latin Samba straight into a big Gaga Abracadabra number that sets the crowd alight. It’s the most current song in the show and arguably the only moment that reminds us we’re in 2026. That said, the energy never dips. The performance of Todrick Hall’s Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels had the crowd screaming, with death drops flying.

The show races through genre after genre, one moment you’re transported to a smoky jazz bar in New Orleans, the next you’re in a ’90s nightclub or watching glamorous showgirls light up the Las Vegas Strip. Each transition is matched with jaw-dropping costumes, perfectly tailored to every performance.
I loved the mix of elegant costumes and elevated theatrical performances with slapstick musical comedy acts getting audience members on stage.
The setlist is stacked with beloved gay camp anthems, but a few of the “modern” picks (Rihanna and Pitbull included) make the show feel slightly dated in places.
Even so, it’s a polished, high-energy production with plenty of dynamic layers to keep audiences captivated.
The Lady Boys of Bangkok is now showing at Fringe World until 15th February 2026.
