About this event

A musical and visual journey around Western Australia. Historic photographs from the late 19th and early 20th Centuries along with contemporary images are projected to accompany original acoustic songs with strong WA themes composed by the performers. The show will transport the imaginations of the audience members across this great state to places and events familiar and new. Songs will be performed using voice and acoustic guitar by Spare Parts Department inmate Gudgeon Pinn and Boorloo/Perth-based singer, songwriter and WAAPA star Bethany O'Brien.

Photographs shown here are courtesy of the State Library of WA collection.

This show contains images of Indigenous and other persons who have passed away.

"A feel-good, value-packed evening. Unmissable" Marnie S, Fringe Reacts, 2024

Presented by:
Peter Barry

4 years ago, after years working as an engineer in the WA mining industry, Gudgeon Pinn wrote a song about a mining company having to deliberately crash a train to save a town in WA. This opened the floodgates and dozens of more songs with Western Australian themes have poured out of him in a continuous torrent ever since. He hopes performing them will bring some respite from the ongoing creative turmoil. He will be accompanied by WAAPA star Bethany O'Brien, an extremely talented Boorloo/Perth based singer and songwriter with a hauntingly beautiful voice. She will be performing her own original songs as well as providing her angelic vocals for many of the other original songs in the show.
