21 January – 15 February

This show belongs to the Fringe2022 season. This season is now over.

StrawBrain

A lonely scarecrow must find the meaning of life after losing his ability to scare away birds.

From the writer/director of A Boy Wanted To and The Killdeer: A Musical, StrawBrain is a solo, one-act, micro musical blending the genres of folk and pop-rock. An exploration of learning to live with a heavy sadness by following the titular StrawBrain, a nervous scarecrow learning to define himself and live with the constant annoyance of a crow that will not leave him alone. A Pixar short film meets therapy, by way of an alt-pop gig.

A Boy Wanted To:

"A show with a powerful message that should be seen" ★★★★ Fringefeed, 2021

The Killdeer: A Musical

"...a soundtrack that feels almost Kafka-esque in both its complexity and nuance" ★★★★ X-Press Magazine, 2020

Presented by: Taylor Broadley

Initially working from a film background, Taylor found himself stumbling headfirst into theatre technical design work before putting on the director's hat himself. After a string of community shows across 3 years working with various companies as an actor, producer, and director, Taylor found an opportunity to write an original musical alongside some incredible local songwriting talent.

After two successful seasons of The Killdeer: A Musical (2020), the passion for combining his love of alternative music and storytelling never went away. Leading to his second original musical, A Boy Wanted To (2021); the story of 6 students protesting in the wake of a school shooting. With the imminent premiere of his short film I Am Ghost, Taylor is on the verge of completing a Masters in Screenwriting.
