I Made This For You

Clara Cupcakes is making a show for the people. Like literally. She's pulling herself out of venues and spreading the whimsical madness to the streets for all to see. Come find her she draws props, makes costumes or whatever else takes your fancy as Clara builds a new show in a new place every day made up from your suggestions. The entirety of Macbeth told only though mime? Sure! Hula hooping while making up songs about the different species of slugs? Okay! A kitten who tap dances while talking about conspiracy theories? You got it! It's whatever you want it to be. It's for you.

Presented by: Clara Cupcakes

Elly Squire aka Clara Cupcakes has been performing burlesque since 2007 starting with Sugar Blue Burlesque in Perth, Western Australia. She draws inspiration from the vaudeville acts of the 1920s, the comedians of the silent film era and the jazz music she knows and loves. Combining authentic jazz dance, circus, clowning and old fashioned sensibilities, she derived her own unique and quirky style of burlesque. Elly has become a prominent artist in the Australian Burlesque community and an active historian of 1920s era burlesque and vaudeville. Her critically acclaimed debut solo show, “The Merchant of Whimsy”, was nominated for the prestigious Golden Gibbo award at the 2015 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Her follow up show, Hot Patootie, was nominated for Best Comedy at Fringe World in 2016. Her most recent touring show, cult hit "The Worst", was again nominated for The Golden Gibbo in 2017 and was the recipient of the Adelaide Artist Fund. She has been a teacher at Bottoms Up! Burlesque School, one half of the vaudeville duo Milk and Cookies, a writer for the television show “Live on Bowen” and is currently working on new shows as well as performing with The Big Hoo-Haa.
