About this event

A woman waits by her husband's sickbed.
A man finds a ring that turns him invisible.
Tanks roll into Tiananmen Square.

How much can we endure from our governments, our Gods, ourselves?

A layered and moving exploration of power, spirituality and survival, godeatgod excavates the betrayals, power struggles and griefs that dominate our world. Where do we find nirvana in a god-eat-god world?

Written by acclaimed Singaporean playwright Haresh Sharma (The Necessary Stage), this staging by Squid Vicious brings together theatre practitioners Andrew Sutherland (Australia/Singapore), Jess Nyanda Moyle (Australia/Philippines), Ming Yang Lim (Australia/Singapore), and Burmese dance artist Mindy Min-Swe in an intimate, intercultural spiral of loss, endurance and transformation.

Presented by:
The Blue Room Theatre Summer Nights & Squid Vicious

Squid Vicious makes theatre. The moist love-child of Perth and Singapore, Squid Vicious' beaky mouth aims to kiss dominant narratives into submission while our tentacles reach towards the intercultural, the interdisciplinary, and the Queer. Like Kuo Pao Kun, we believe that a worthy failure is more valuable than a mediocre success, and like Tina Turner, we believe in doing it nice and rough. Squid Vicious makes theatre for a hot ocean, and in case you were wondering, we're super into 'fats, femmes, and Asians'.
