About this event

Winner, Director's Choice Award, Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2023
Nominee, Most Outstanding Show at MICF 2024
As seen on MICF Gala, Comedy Up Late, Thank God You're Here & Taskmaster.

Japanese Comedy Boy Takashi thinks Stand Up Comedy is similar to Samurai.
You are always alone on the stage. Kill or Die. Better to be Sharp and Quick but also think about the Space and the Distance. It looks Simple but is Complicated. Thinking a lot but pretend to Think Nothing. Sensitive and Timid like a cat but Solid and Fearless like a large cloud. The Spiral of Gratitude, Respect, Despair and Suffer. Takashi puts his Life and Passion to this comedy show. Please don’t miss any Strokes of his Jokes and Souls.

"Exquisite stand-up" ★★★★ Chortle, 2024
"Funny, clever and insightful" ★★★★ ArtsHub, 2021

Presented by:
TAKASHI WAKASUGI

Takashi first visited Australia as an exchange student in 2012 and leapt into the English stand-up world to become Japan’s fastest rising comedy export.
In 2018 he moved to Australia on a working holiday visa, stories from which time resulted in the hit festival show Farm Backpacker, and earned him a spot on ABC’s Tonightly with Tom Ballard.
After 7 years appearing on stages and screens Australia-wide, he's mastered the art of marrying his 2 cultural identities (as seen in last year’s award-winning show Japanese Aussie).
Every day he is becoming more at ease with the phrase “no worries".
“Abundant pleasure...It’s a genuine joy to be insulted by him” ★★★★ The Scotsman
"He exudes contagious optimism & charm...clever & often quirky observations…with a knack for comedic timing" ★★★★ TimeOut
