Birak Concert 2018
On 26 January, the Supreme Court Gardens will play host to the Birak Concert
as part of the Australia Day long weekend. With a plethora of music,
dance, art and food, the concert is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander cultures and communities. The City of Perth is proud to
have evolved the event in partnership over the past few years with the
Aboriginal community to present an inclusive, all-ages celebration the
community can enjoy.
The term Birak is used to describe the beautiful Nyoongar season -- the balmy summer months of December and January. During this time, the Moodjar tree flowers in bright orange.
In celebration of this important season and featuring the best in dance and song, the Birak Concert promises fun for the wider Western Australian community.
