Ballads, Banksias and Beauty

From the heart of the South West, drawn from the land and shaped by the hands of four world-class musicians, comes a multi-sensory musical experience. Grammy award-winning Lucky Oceans is joined by multiple FRINGE WORLD Festival award winner Jessie Gordon, Bell award recipient Ben Vanderwal and triple WAMI award winner Russell Holmes.

This powerhouse quartet sculpt a wall of sound with pedal steel, piano, haunting vocals, drums, acoustic guitar and electronic soundscapes. The band create heartfelt, glorious and achingly beautiful arrangements of classic Australian songs performed against a backdrop of images of the West Australian landscape.

"an experience that all West Australians should have at least once as it fills you up with the richness of our place" ★★★★ Fourth Wall, 2020

Presented by: Jessie Gordon

Jessie is a very sun-shy Perth red-headed jazz singer who enjoys swing music, dancing in her kitchen to Otis Redding, eating cheese at any given opportunity and singing in the shower and every other (shaded) venue. Her main musical passions are jazz, blues and roots music. She started singing professionally at the age of 15 and has fronted big bands, jazz duos and every sized band in-between. She has toured Australia, America, South East Asia, Germany, France, Spain, Poland and the UK. She is also a 20 time Fringe World Music and Cabaret Award winner with 8 CDs up her sleeve and a brand new album with Sassafras due to be released in 2021.
