A Tail of Taxidermy

Have you ever wanted to know more about the wonderful world of Taxidermy? Let local Taxidermist Artist Hayley Walker take you down the rabbit hole to explore the history and importance of this art form for the world and in her life. You'll be privy to a short demo, will be able to view an exhibition of her works and can engage in a Q&A session.

Auslan Interpreter: Karlene Quijano

Presented by: Death & Delicacy

With a keen interest in creatures great and small - living and dead - a fascination with Taxidermy was born early in Hayley, the artist behind Death & Delicacy. Throw in a short career as a pet refuge worker & vet nurse, a house packed full of resident animal overlords, creative healing from familial deaths whilst studying Art Therapy and the ultimate DIY attitude - and this celebration of life, stories and nature in death was bound to happen. Based in Bassendean, Hayley works with both wildlife and pets for preservation and teaches a variety of hands-on workshops in her studio, and has travelled to facilitate workshops in Bunbury and Melbourne. It is of utmost importance to note that no creature is killed purposefully and nothing is wasted. This work is a labour of love.
