Whisper White - Event image

Whisper White

Whisper White is a new piece of theatre which had its inaugural production season in September 2019 in Fremantle. Performed to sold out audiences and great reviews, this is a play you don't want to miss. On a hot summer evening, Marcus and his five friends gather to celebrate Australia Day. They share gourmet food, beer and a smorgasbord of exotic cocktails. In the warm space of friendship, much frivolity and rapid-fire conversations abound. As the night unfolds, contested opinions and political debates crisscross the dinner table, giving glimpses of contemporary Australia's changing identity. Two years later, Marcus takes center stage to vividly recount the events of that evening and what made it such a life changing experience for him.

Presented by: The Strawboat Collective

The Strawboat Collective is a small independent theatre company based in Fremantle. At the heart of the company's philosophy is the telling of stories that focus on the connectivity between people and the desire to shed light on the human condition. Whisper White is a new work written and directed by Kerry Bowden. The play allows the audience to be up-close and personal with a group of friends who gather to celebrate Australia Day. Actors Andrew Dawson, Thomas Desmond, Tatiana Dunn, Rebecca Maynard, Ellin Sears and Nick Stevenson bring to life each of the characters as they endlessly eat, drink, joke and argue throughout the evening. As the storyline weaves through vignettes of frivolity, mateship and pain, the bonds of friendship, and the restorative power of resilience shine through.
