In THIS IS THE WORST: Dating, Disasters and the Advice that makes it even worse, Mariah O'Dea (#thenewme, 2022) returns to explore the world of dating and relationships, and the awful advice that comes with it. The apps, the ick, the Run Clubs, first dates, break ups, situationships, the back and forth, round and round, rejection after rejection...
Combining stand up, sketch, satire and way too much oversharing, Mariah questions if we really learn anything, date after date, or is dating for the plot (of this show) the only meaning behind it?
It's the biggest flop era of the millennia: Dating. It's the worst, but is it worth it?
Presented by: Mariah O'Dea
Mariah O'Dea is a one-woman multi-disciplinary performing artist and comedian based in Boorloo, WA. Her performance experience includes a BA (Honours) in Performing Arts from WAAPA, and work in acting, comedy, improvisation, writing, movement, puppetry, burlesque and hula hooping.
‘#thenewme’ was Mariah’s first work, a satirical sketch show on our social media lives, premiering as part of FRINGE WORLD in 2022. It went on to feature in Sydney Fringe Festival (2022) and critically acclaimed encores in 2024 in both FRINGE WORLD and in Perth Comedy Festival.
