#thenewme
We've all seen them, know them, maybe even been them. The fit chick. The yogi. Another Soundcloud DJ. The wellness advocate. D-Grade celebrities. Your high school bully and her pyramid scheme. They're our biggest influencers.
#thenewme is a social commentary satire on the characters we present online. The ones with a grid to die for, influencing the latest trends and the latest you. Our best selves, online, and the reality of our other... selves... #vulnerable
Originally featured as a short in The Blue Room's 2017 600 Seconds, now comes the long-awaited, full-length comedy.
"O'Dea killed it with her deeply funny satire on the toxicity of the mainstream health and wellness lifestyle. Sending five stars this outstanding performer's way" - Australian Arts Review, 2017
Presented by: Mariah O'Dea
Mariah O'Dea is a Boorloo based performer whose eclectic, multifaceted work is born from curiosity, confusion, and navigating the hard stuff by transforming it into big lol's. Her performance experience includes acting, improvisation, writing, movement, puppetry, hula hooping, and many other less successful 'hobbies.' She is also a qualified art therapist, passionate about how art and creativity can help others. Although her path has taken many directions, she really just hopes she can make you laugh along the way.
