SKA - Kingston to Coventry
Hear ska songs like Message to You Rudy and the sounds that inspired bands like The Specials and Madness. Red's Tribe takes you on a musical journey. 1960s Jamaica - to 1980s England - Kingston to Coventry. Some of Perth's finest musicians will perform the lesser known 60s jazz and rocksteady, with the distinctive Caribean driving offbeat rhythm.
The show will close with the greatest 80s ska hits. It is the story of how punk, rock musicians and Jamaican immigrants came together to create the "Two-Tone" label and ska - still loved 40 years later.
Amazing vocalists Leah Guelfi and Justin Gross + rhythm section + 3-piece horn section will recreate both of those eras. Reminisce about the ska you danced to and enjoy the beautiful music that insipred it.

Stuart Ferguson is a Perth trumpeter and producer. From Kingston to Coventry is his 3rd Fringe and 3rd DATM show. Both previous shows received rave reviews - "Exciting, electric, exhilarating, energetic, but most of all entertaining" ★★★★½.
From Kingston to Coventry follows similar themes to Sun Songs - the beautiful music that occurs when black and white musicians intersect. That show was a tribute to the black and white musicians and the stories of the artists who recorded at Sun Records. Similarly, From Kingston to Coventry is a loving tribute to the black Jamaican and white English musicians who brought the "Two-Tone" label and ska to life. This is also sure to be exciting, electric, exhilarating, energetic, entertaining and educational!
