FRINGE WORLD Festival 2026

Mother Lilith! The Sky Falls, and Falls.

This is Eden. Re-written. Paradise cracks open into itself. Eden fraying at the delicate edge. Womanhood isn’t what they told you. What is the difference between exile and liberty? This experimental theatre work deconstructs and queers one of the oldest tales of gender and power, begging us to see the possibilities of a new narrative. Weaving the themes of Genesis with unapologetic rage and desire - questioning everything we have been told about the ‘unacceptable woman’: Lilith.

The audience is invited to reflect on where their own beliefs around gender, power, desire, and sex — and to witness the power of flipping the script. Here, women are not trapped in roles of competition for male attention, but instead celebrated for their unabated desire for freedom, at whatever cost.

Poppy (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist working across experimental theatre, performance art, spoken word, and queer myth-making. As writer, director, and creative producer, she creates genre-defiant work that queers dominant narratives and centres embodied, political storytelling. Her latest work, 'Mother Lilith! The Sky Falls, and Falls', reimagines Genesis through a queer, feminist lens — with Lilith at the centre. Her previous theatre work, WILD-HER-NESS! (Perth & Melbourne Fringe 2018/2019), sold out with its feral celebration of queer wildness, rage, and queer poetic resistance. Poppy’s approach to theatre is collaborative, cross-disciplinary, and deeply rooted in affect — she creates worlds that ache, bleed, laugh, and bite back. Poppy is currently based in Boorloo/Perth.
