Maren May is German
Don't miss this hilarious and engaging hour with a 2022 RAW Comedy state finalist (who is quite aware of the stereotypes about the German sense of humour).
This show might be a direct result of Maren not following the advice she received as a teenager to 'never date an Australian' which she didn't think was ever going to come up growing up in Germany.
It features memories of her fellow Germans unwrapping an entire leg of ham while travelling on the train, just to cut a few slices for their sandwiches but also tackles more serious topics such as complicated family dynamics and falling in and out of love - all while trying to defend stereotypes and slowly realising how many German sayings are in fact about sausages.
"fresh comedic talent ... wonderfully honest" Australian Stage, 2022

Maren would like you to think that her comedy is deadpan, even though she knows she probably smiles too much for that. She loves mixing a dash of silly into more serious stories about family dynamics, mental health and lessons about relationships and friendships.
She has performed stand-up in English and German; much prefers the English gigs and is a regular in the Australian stand-up scene. She also hosts the comedy podcast ‘You can’t blame gravity for falling in love’ that has recently been featured in Apple’s ‘New and Noteworthy’
