21 January – 15 February

This show belongs to the Fringe2023 season. This season is now over.

Ignorance Was Bliss

Nostalgia lingers; a time in which we didn't exist, but we feel we belong; an escape to a simpler time that once was.

'Ignorance was Bliss' is a contemporary dance piece of a window into the past, a depiction of a world that was once happier because it was filled with ignorance and innocence. We will transport you back to the 50s, where everyone was doing the twist, playing on the streets until dark and wouldn't even be able to fathom the concept of the 'internet'. This piece is sentimental & warm, yet threaded with a comedic and whimsical spirit.

Come with us on a journey to remember our past and discover what it can teach us about ourselves today.

"I would recommend anyone to get along with an open mind and see just where this genre can take you" 'Pursuit' ★★★★½ Fringefeed, 2022

Presented by: Enneagon Movement

Enneagon Movement was founded in 2020 by 9 local emerging Boorloo based contemporary artists with its mission statement revolving around creating accessible, relatable, and creative contemporary dance works. Representing the original team, Giorgia Schijf and Minni Karamfiles are both passionate about choreographing exciting new works, making contemporary dance palatable to the general public and feeding multidisciplinary practices into their projects. The pair have been choreographing, performing, and producing a variety of Fringe productions with the company and individually since 2019. Schijf and Karamfiles presented their new work ‘Ignorance is (was) Bliss’ as a part of ‘Shortcuts’ under STRUT Dance. The team currently has projects underway in anticipation of presenting works in 2023/24
