This show belongs to the Fringe2022 season. This season is now over.

Golden Age Girls

Despite their modern upbringing, sopranos Ruth and Irene grew up craving the glamorous life that accompanied the Golden Age of Broadway. Their competitive drive leads them to entertain the only guaranteed market they can find: funeral guests. When it comes time for their reluctant daughters to take over the funeral extravaganza business, Ruth and Irene's deadly, unquenchable thirst for fame burns brighter than ever. These driven, eccentric, hilariously dramatic women will steal your hearts and make you laugh out loud, then gasp with scandalous joy.

"There is a lot to laugh at and admire...a great twist gives a short feeling of the macabre, before this musical dances on (indeed tap dances) into the utterly ridiculous." - Jenny Fay, 2021

Amy Fortnum, Jess Clancy and Jackson Harper are graduates from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), with Bachelor degrees in Musical Theatre, Classical Voice, Contemporary Music and Classical Composition. Fortnum and Clancy seem to have the habit of following in each other's footsteps - the theme which brought the original Golden Age Girls to life. After winning the 2018 Julie Michael Cabaret Award and 2019 FRINGE WORLD WA Cabaret Award, they went on to perform sell-out 2020 Fringe seasons around Australia. The duo then partnered up with Harper to workshop the snappy sequel, Golden Aged Girls with The Hayes Theatre Company in Sydney. The team are dedicated to producing new Australian works that are a little scandalous, thought-provoking and completely hilarious.
