Flamenco y Cuba
Join us for a journey from Cuba to Spain, an evening of Flamenco music and dance highlighting influences from Cuba.
Ida y Vuelta in Spanish translates as roundtrip. In Flamenco it refers to a group of musical forms or palos from Latin America, predominantly Cuba, that were introduced into Spain. Guajiras, Colombiana and Rumbas are the main palos of Afro-Cuban origin.
The award-winning AIRE Flamenco dancers Valeria González and Maree Laffan are joined by featured international guitarist Ernesto Castillo (Cuba) and award-winning percussionist Steve Richter.
