Fella Sings Ella

Tim Parish and his band are swinging The Ellington Jazz Club with songs from the scintillating repertoire of the Queen of Jazz, Ella Fitzgerald. Starting with her first hit "A Tisket, A Tasket", you, the audience, select the songs from Ella's "Little Yellow Basket" on the night, so you never know what song will come next!

Whether you are a lover of Ella Fitzgerald or just exploring jazz for the first time, there is something for everyone, from the brightest swing to brooding ballads spanning Ella's career. You choose. With a voice like hot Spanish chocolate on a cool Autumn day and a trio of Perth's top jazz musicians, Tim Parish and the band are here waiting to see what song you pick from the basket to give you a night of fabulous music and a glimpse at the life of the superb Lady Ella.A

Presented by: Tim Parish

With a voice like rich Spanish chocolate on an Autumn day and a life of jazz, Tim Parish is as comfortable singing soulful jazz ballads as he is playing with the most light and frothy tunes from the golden era of swing. A lifetime of experience with music pouring from records of the 30s and 40s has given him an innate understanding of the jazz/swing mood.

Having had the extraordinary opportunity to train and perform with the fabulous Libby Hammer, Tim Parish knows well how to generate those notes that turn a tune into magic and create that frisson that will make you pause in the midst of your conversation, hesitate in the midst of the sip of your martini and take you back to the great days of the jazz era, suspended for a delicious moment wrapped in the warmth of the music he makes.
