Growing up is hard. Growing up as a lesbian is harder. Growing up as a lesbian in the closet is very stressful. Growing up as a lesbian who is outed because of jealousy is dreadful. However, it happens more than you may think. When Jess invites Belinda over for dinner, to meet her parents, it is with the plan that she will tell them she is gay. However, they are forbidden from any further contact. They continue to see each other in secret until they are caught and Jess’ parents virtually disown her. Belinda takes Jess back to her house, where she is welcomed with open arms, in stark contrast to what she has just experienced. This show will be our arms reaching out, hopefully with the audience reaching back, so the healing can begin.
