21 January – 15 February

A woman in lingerie, a black jacket, and tall red boots stands confidently between two headless white mannequins. She poses with one hand on her hip and the other behind her head. The background features a surreal, colourful cityscape with pink and purple clouds above skyscrapers.
A performer onstage leans forward in an expressive, emotional pose, clutching their abdomen with one hand and reaching downward with the other. Blue stage lighting casts dramatic shadows, and a chair with a Union Jack design sits behind them in the darkened theatre space.
A busy city street scene with large digital billboards in the background. In the foreground, a person wearing only black undergarments and a blindfold stands with arms outstretched.. People walk past, a red double-decker bus is visible to the right, and shops and traffic lights line the street.

Blacksheep

The most moving solo show I’ve seen in a long time.” — Stage Whispers, 2025

Dr. Jae West shares her raw, sassy & heartfelt true story in Blacksheep—a bold journey of rebellion, belonging & self-discovery.

This emotive solo show dives deep into hard-hitting truths around body image, societal conditioning and growing up in the LGBTQIA+ community. Confronting and liberating moments are shared through storytelling, dance, and poetry.

But it’s not all heavy—expect glitter, Spice Girls, and a viral social experiment that sparked a global conversation.

Developed with the support of The Blue Room Theatre for the Summer Nights Festival (2025) and fresh from its first interstate run at Melbourne Fringe, Blacksheep is a fierce celebration of identity, courage, and the power of truth.
