Perth audiences are renowned for not standing at performances. I’m not sure why, but our bums are firmly planted in our seats, and we don’t like to move them. HOWEVER, last night at Crew’s Control: Seas the Day, upstairs at the Sky Deck at the Northbridge Brewing Company, we had a standing ovation! Bravo to the two hysterical actors, Harry Stacey and Kristelle Zibara. And, the person who ignited the standing wasn’t even a relative! We were all just so happy and filled with hilarity after the show finished, we couldn’t help ourselves.
This is a very silly show, simply created with great sound effects, catchy tunes (like the one for "Bertie and Doris’ Bingo”) and two jolly actors who thoroughly enjoyed changing costumes to become a myriad of characters.
The premise is that the audience is partaking in a 7-day cruise, with two super perky cruise directors and a gang of different entertainments. They ranged from Pamela Pots and Pans, a positive vibes only Tarot reader, to a chirpy, elderly duo and many more. There was cute audience participation in all sections. My favourite was the ridiculous waxing scene where you could tell that the male actor was regretting the life choices that led to him having his thigh waxed live on stage. The audience got to help, the last waxing strip being yanked off to his screams by none other than his own mother!

The Dipping Sauce Theatre Company from Sydney has created a delightful show that I recommend to everyone who wants a giggle-fuelled night. It will have you chortling your way through, getting involved with all the antics and who knows, you may even get up on the stage for your own little moment of fun as well?!
