GASHA, presented by Cirquework, offers a polished and visually striking addition to this year’s FRINGE WORLD program.

Inspired by traditional Japanese culture and reimagined through a modern lens, the production blends contemporary circus with strong visual design. Neon lighting, electronic soundscapes and large-scale projected visuals work together to create a clear sense of atmosphere and direction throughout the show.

The performance itself is anchored by high-level circus skills, including aerial work, acrobatics and live music. The cast demonstrates impressive strength, control and precision, with each routine executed confidently. It’s clear the performers are highly trained, and their professionalism keeps the audience engaged from start to finish. Several moments drew audible reactions from the crowd, reflecting the impact of the physical feats on display.

While GASHA was originally developed with a Japanese cast, the majority of performers on stage were Australian, stepping in due to visa issues that prevented the original crew from attending. This context was shared with the audience, and the replacement cast handled the material well, delivering a cohesive and well-rehearsed performance.

Overall, GASHA is a strong contemporary circus production that combines technical skill with modern design elements. It will appeal to audiences looking for a visually engaging show.
