Ready for an adventure truly dictated by you and your fellow audience members? Welcome to Cabaret Time Machine. If you’re a fan of improvisational theatre and cabaret with a historical twist, this show is worth a spot on your 2026 FRINGE WORLD Festival must-see list.

Each performance is a unique experience, not only because of the heavy audience participation, but also because the historical era varies every time. Melbourne’s Isabella Valette is talented and vivacious from the get-go. Like a pied piper with less nefarious intentions, she led the audience on a hilarious and definitely original history lesson of Catherine the Great. Despite the audience’s limited knowledge of this historical figure and her badassery, Valette still delivered a whimsical yet comical performance.

Her ability to weave in absurd audience requests, including partner acrobatics, pole dancing, dumplings and a dream man who loves to clean without a hitch, is truly a gift. Valette’s also accompanied by a trio of skilled musicians, who riff seamlessly off her throughout the show, from Germanic-inspired ballads to operatic solos. One musician even doubles as “Catherine’s” poor husband, Peter. His performance as a besotted yet clueless royal paired perfectly. Even a rogue dismounting wig and runaway mic pack became part of the performance, demonstrating how committed to the bit the whole Cabaret Time Machine cast is.

With a limited run, don’t miss out on this incredible show!
