Sixty minutes of pure “how on earth did that happen?”

Mindreading and Other Freaking Wonders is exactly what it says it is. There are no flashy props, no big theatrics. Just one man with an unsettling ability to correctly guess things that were simply impossible to know in advance.

Throughout the show, audience members were invited to help, and it never felt awkward or forced. You could say yes or no. People from the front, middle and even the back row were involved, which gave the whole room a sense of a shared experience.

The reactions were immediate. From the very first moment, people were leaning forward in delight. Smiling. Whispering. Eyes shining and looking at each other as if to say, “Did you just see that?” One reveal after another, it kept coming. At one point, I thought, “No, stop - my brain can’t take any more.” I was in the front row, watching carefully, determined to catch something - a slip, a clue, anything and saw nothing. Eventually, I gave up and surrendered to simply enjoying the show, and that truly was part of Lavey’s magic and charm.

Lavey himself is unassuming with delightful humour. His show isn’t loud or showy. It’s calm, clever and deeply skilful. You walk out smiling, shaking your head, replaying moments and wondering how on earth he pulled each trick off. Lavey runs his show completely on his own, delivering great value. Seeing someone of this level perform just metres away is a genuine FRINGE WORLD treat - catch it while you can.

Go if you love being surprised. Go if you think you’re impossible to fool. Go if you want to feel that simple, childlike wonder again.
