Latin y Flamenco transported me to another land — steeped in Latin beats and pulsing with Cuban vibes.

Drum and guitar moved like two limbs of a single, beating entity, inseparable and alive. It felt like a lesson in rhythm, taught through the use of bananas and mangoes, grounding the beat in earth, culture, and humour. Audience participation through clapping to the beat helped us feel the complex rhythm.

The drummer was my favourite, being so adaptable with a natural sense of rhythm. He could read the audience effortlessly, encouraging participation that helped us sense the complex rhythm of each piece of music. The Spanish guitar was played with so much emotion and expression.

Talented dancers wore eye-catching costumes and performed the flamenco well with castanettes to accompany.

And then there was the red scarf—fierce and defiant—awakening my inner bull, daring it to charge headfirst into the fire of the performance. What dramatic dances accompanied by the red scarf… & red fans! Voila!
