Best of Fringe: Early Show is a fun, easy win for anyone who wants a good night of comedy without committing to a full hour with just one performer. Featuring six stand-up comedians, the show works like a tasting plate—short, sharp sets that give you a real feel for each comic’s style. Some acts clicked with me instantly, others took a minute to warm up, but that’s part of the appeal. If one style isn’t your thing, another is never far away.
The variety is definitely the show’s biggest strength. There’s genuinely something for everyone, from clever observations and quick one-liners to sillier moments and comedians who lean heavily into crowd interaction. The pacing keeps things moving nicely and the overall vibe feels relaxed and playful rather than overly polished. It’s also a great way to spot performers you might want to seek out for their full shows later in the Fringe.
Fair warning, though: audience participation is very much on the menu. I was extremely glad not to be sitting in the front two rows, which seemed to double as the danger zone for being singled out. Watching from a safer distance suited me just fine.
Overall, Best of Fringe delivers exactly what it promises—a solid, entertaining sampler of comedy that earns a respectable 3.5 out of 5 stars.
