Dragged Through the Desert – A Priscilla Celebration is a high-energy, glitter-drenched drag spectacular that celebrates the heart and spirit of the iconic Priscilla, Queen of the Desert journey across outback Australia. Hosted by the flamboyant Dean Misdale, celebrating over 20 years of drag, the show delivers powerhouse vocals and performances that radiate pure joy.
With his energetic backup crew, he wastes no time ripping the roof off, opening with Raining Men under rainbow-lit umbrellas before pulling the audience in with infectious sing-alongs to beloved Priscilla classics. From there, it becomes a whirlwind road trip west, because west is best, bursting with camp, colour, and cheek.
The costumes are bold, sparkly, and unmistakably pink. A stop in Broken Hill features a not-quite-bus, hi-vis work polos, checkered shirts paired with glittery hot pants, and a standout favourite: platform stiletto work boots. And of course, no Priscilla celebration would be complete without the iconic thong dress.
The finale is pure Aussie drag magic — flora, fauna, and a flamboyant cockatoo bringing the house down. Beneath the sparkle, lashes, and laughter lies a powerful reminder: despite online haters and keyboard critics, drag is about joy, resilience, and showing your true colours. The cast are still here, still sparkling, and still unapologetically proud.
Loved it.
