Get close to the action at Unplugged Magic. Pierre Ulric brings the audience into his tricks and amazes with incomprehensible sleight of hand from not two metres away.
The show focuses largely on Pierre’s incredible card tricks. Using audience involvement, he WOWs with creative tricks that dumbfound participants. The show is well structured, and elements throughout the show are drawn together for a satisfying finale.
Alongside his tricks, Pierre offers heartfelt commentary. Often funny and at times enlightening, Pierre talks of the history of magic, various global magic traditions and the importance of creativity. I was particularly amused by his demonstration of different card shuffling techniques, which was both humorous and skilful, with the Canberra technique being my favourite!
Unplugged Magic is a family-friendly show whose appeal defies age restrictions. While Pierre has a specific children’s show (Enchantments Return), Unplugged Magic has a largely adult audience but remains completely appropriate for younger viewers. Pierre’s endearing stage presence and passion for the craft make his performance captivating regardless of age.
Unplugged Magic is a funny and awe-inspiring show. Pierre’s talent makes the tricks look easy, yet no less impressive. A magical evening for FRINGE WORLD attendees of all ages.
