ALT GRL WRLD is the perfect encapsulation of what FRINGE WORLD is all about. Featuring ten completely unique acts spanning stand-up comedy, burlesque, sword swallowing, pole dance and miscellaneous chaos, ALT GRL WRLD is captivating from start to finish.

And with proceeds going to domestic violence charity Mary’s House Services, you can feel good knowing the show’s celebration of women goes beyond the last performance.

Ruby Teys is an exceptional host. She immediately sets the energy and seamlessly connects each of the performances with humour and wit. The rotating female and non-binary cast is awash with talent. My show was treated to acts from incredible Perth locals Aves Robins, Hot Blonde Slvt and Jade Valentine, as well as interstate talent Gogo Bumhole, Elle Diablo and Mel McGlensey, among many others.

Each act was weirder and more chaotic than the last, in the best way possible. There was a celebration of bush, a hungry baby, a nun turned devil and an all too relatable performance from a human rabbit vibe. At one stage, I found myself on stage in an arm wrestling competition with Grease Grillson. It was all so hilariously absurd and delightfully Fringe.

With a rotating cast, each evening of ALT GRL WRLD is guaranteed to be different. It’s the perfect way to find a new favourite artist whose solo show you can then support at FRINGE WORLD. It’s a truly wonderful show, a quintessential FRINGE WORLD experience and well worth staying up late for.
