If you are lined up and expecting a set based on the best of the Pogues, you’d be disappointed.  If you are looking for an intimate gathering and a Celtic-inspired adventure back into the history of the settlement of Western Australia, then you are in luck!

Perth local Celtic folk ensemble Amárach are joined by John Ralph and his collective knowledge on music and local history in the cosy Ambassador Bar for a delightfully intimate session.

The combination of Gaelic ditties and music inspired by the artists and stories of Aboriginal Australians was an interesting combination and a lovely way to tell the tales of the early settlement days and of those who journey from afar to call this land home for generations to come.

The musicians were brilliant and the lead singer who accompanied the traditional Gaelic instruments had the voice of an angel. I could absolutely picture her belting out operatic arias – such a clear sharp soprano.
