Some styles of comedy are like banking- there are deposits and withdrawals. The King of Comedy(UK)-Kyle Legacy is exactly that.

The very hirsute and energetic Scouse starts his 50 minute set with deposits. He reaches out to the, almost sell out, audience and compliments them. He flatters them mainly on their loyalty; turns out, many have seen his show in previous FRINGE WORLD years. One in fact, was there on his 10th iteration! This man-child was seeing Legacy, with his mother and sister in tow, since he was twelve- now that’s fan adoration.

Legacy deposited kind statements to his 22 year old loyal audience member, and then weaved his comedic energy and p**s-taking into the show. He effectively uses his loyal subjects as fodder.

This sounds mean-spirited but a good comedian never humiliates but rather shines the comedic light on the ridiculous, everyday happenings of his loyal subjects.

Legacy is charming. His withdrawals from the audience and their stories is not degrading or belittling. In fact, it is this reason his comedy works. He spends the first half of his show developing an intimate relationship with his subjects and then he proceeds to use said audience for comedic relief, for the rest of the punters.

Each show is different because it relies on what the audience has to share.

He also asks the audience, pre show, to write anything on a piece of paper. From that he draws out the most strange and weird statements and turns each into comedy or a story from his vast library of experiences as a comedic journeyman over the decades.

Legacy also holds the world record for the most shows in a set period. At the Edinburgh Fringe he did over 230 gigs. The obvious take out from this statistic is that this guy is a seasoned performer and he certainly knows how to work a crowd.

Strap yourself in for journey of ad-lib laughter with a true professional journeyman… and king!
