If you’re going to see some FRINGE WORLD shows, then I always recommend going to at least one mixed bag of comedians because, chances are, you will come away with at least one or two artists that you’ll want to catch again. British Invasion is no exception.

Hosted by Dan Willis, the show kicked off with the likeably rude Ollie Horn whose observations of how cute the Northbridge police look on their bicycles and his comparisons of British and Ozzie English were succinct, pointed and delivered with a rogueish charm.

Next up was Darius Davies, who kicked proceedings up a gear or two, as he manically complained and raged about everything from his inability to pull a massive crowd to the thrills and spills that come with wandering the streets of Northbridge at 4am.

Raul Kohli, however, missed the mark tonight, explaining quite sincerely, that he was jetlagged, but it seemed that his material just didn’t have the punchlines to pull off the laughs.

As the evening started drawing to a close, Sarah Callaghan breezed in like a breath of fresh air, winning the audience over with her lighthearted banter about her much older husband.

The piece de resistance tonight, though, was the final act – the side-splittingly clever Gill Cordiner. When she hits the stage, all bets are off, with her snappy, hilarious retorts ensuring that no one is safe as she targeted mullet wearers, tradies, milfs, bogans, and her own kids in equal measure. A next level comedian, she is performing two other shows this year (Scary Queen Of Scots and Sketchy C@nt) that, on the basis of her 15 minutes tonight, should be absolute crackers.

What a fabulous finish to a fun filled evening!
