It’s FRINGE WORLD time again, and this year I kicked off the festival with Brewed Laughter: Beer tasting with a comedian, at the Lucky Shag.

Tonight’s show wasn’t exactly what it said on the tin. Instead of beer, a selection of Brookvale Union creations was the tipple dejour.

We sampled a generous measure of Peach Ice Tea, Lemon Lime and Bitters, a Vodka, Pineapple and Coconut Cocktail, a Ginger Beer, and a Vodka Tropical Punch. All with the guidance of jovial Perth comedian, Chris Shin.

By his own admission, Chris is no particular alcohol connoisseur. But he’s very funny, and his personable and relaxed delivery, combined with his skill at working a room, sure make him a great host. It’s like being at drinks with your mates.

Here, there’s the opportunity to not only try the drinks, but share your thoughts about them too. And of course, no drinking session would be complete without a bit of pub trivia. So, prepare yourself for some mind-blowing drinking-related facts to impress your mates with later. Plus, you might even score yourself a prize.

The theme and host may change unexpectedly for some sessions, it seems. But that just keeps things fresh.
